Dear friends,

The task which binds us, enthralling but Litt O, how much difficult, is to educate the children of our community and to insufflate the bases of the Jewish culture to them, while following traditional teaching.

The heat of the reception and the quality of the teaching of Gan Yeladim of Nancy are not any more to show and radiate well beyond our city.

In Gan Yeladim of Nancy , we won the bet to make our school a true place of blooming, training of the bases of the life and education in a really Jewish environment. The children discover the bases of the Judaism which will make them, tomorrow, Jewish women and men, modern, integrated in the City with a universal and generous glance on the life.

For nine years, we have applied the Montessori method to learn the children to become autonomous. This method comprises four broad outlines applicable to the children from 3 to 6 years old: practical life, sensory education, language (reading, writing, word), mathematics; the free child left in his work is confronted with an education of the five directions which must gradually lead it to learn without properly school constraints.

We organize every two years, a great day of the child, open on the city (we receive the Mayor and some elected officials). The following year, the children leave in school camp and their parents join them at the beginning of shabbat.

A programme of training of modern Hebrew is spread out over two years, at the end which, the pupils acquire a knowledge of approximately two hundred words; an areva (young Israeli) intervenes punctually, which makes it possible to the pupils to have a direct bond with Israel .

In the prolongation of the Hebrew studies to the gan, and in measurement or the children asked it, we have creates a oulpan intended for all the children of the primary school with two levels.

The children had the chance to be initiated with computer, sculpture, music, and with song.

"As in all school, Smadar Posalski, the teacher, makes push beans, but, voluntarily, does not sprinkle certain pots, because without water, there is no life..."

We are in contact with other schools of the city for a teaching project. This year the topic is "knowledge and the acceptance of the other such as it is".

Our pride is to have been able to keep in Gan Yeladim, a child carrying an handicap, three years more. The medical and social speakers came to work with the gan in relation with Smadar Posalski. Its integration with the other children was perfect and we allowed this little boy to acquire sufficient autonomy to integrate a specific center.

We accomodated a few months, Nazanine, native of Iran ; We know today, that Nazanine always regrets its Gan and its friends.

Gan allowed and allows currently the integration of children resulting from the Eastern European countries.

The transmission of the memory holds us with heart. Following the inauguration of the room Simon and Suzanne Gelber (in memory of the children of Michel Gelber), the photographs and the file of the children remain permanently with the entry of this room. We are in close connection with Yad Layeled in Israel and have a program of teaching adapted to the children of this age.

We had the chance to meet the evening of Yom Kippur and adopt Lia Austrian student coming to France in Sabbath years, and the idea of volunteering, it has proved to be a great teaching aid with great sweetness and firmness, and has left France the day after the last day of school.
